Surrey Celebrates Canada's 150th!

(February 19, 2017 )

50 Years of Confederation
1867 - 2017: Canada is 150 years strongNearly 150 years ago, at the Charlottetown and Québec conferences, the Fathers of Confederation worked on a visionary project—to create a lasting democracy—which today serves as a model for the world. Many important people, milestones, cultural and political events have shaped our country’s history and helped it grow into a Canada that is a strong model and leader in the world. We are proud of our identity, diversity, innovation, and natural beauty.  We are a country that is a free, open, diverse and pluralistic society.

There are events all year that will be highlighted but the first event is in the city of Surrey on February 21st 2017. Join Mayor Linda Hepner as Surrey officially launches its City-wide Canada 150 Program. Come and show off your Canadian pride by wearing red and white at City Hall Plaza from 11-1 pm. Highlights for the Surrey Celebrates Canada 150 Launch include:
  • Kwantlen Glee Club
  • First Nations Hoop Dancing
  • Canadian Cover Band
  • Canadian inspired food trucks Crepes & Melttown (Poutine) on the plaza for all to enjoy!

Hope to see you there!
